Mooncake Box Upcycling Workshop

Kowloon Bay

When Mooncake Boxes Meet Youthful Creativity, Waste Transforms into Art!

The Diploma of Vocational Education (Construction Technology) and (Watch and Clock) has been invited by the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Office (CESDO) to apply their professional expertise in designing upcycled creations from recycled mooncake boxes. These include the innovative "Timely Memory: Clock & Shadow" clock and the "Cozy Pet House," a delightful living space for small pets. This initiative aims to give back to the community by applying classroom knowledge and putting the sustainable concept of "turning waste into treasure" into practice.

In collaboration with the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Office (CESDO), the Youth College and Maxim's Group, and in response to the "Hong Kong Museum Festival 2025 – FUNtastic Museum Carnival" organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Office (CESDO) will host a "Mooncake Box Upcycling Workshop" on 1st and 2nd November 2025, at the Market Zone of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Students from the Youth College will serve as instructors, guiding participants in upcycling recycled mooncake boxes into two creative pieces: the aesthetically pleasing and practical "Timely Memory" clock, and the "Cozy Pet House" designed for small animals. The workshop not only teaches design skills but also promotes environmental awareness and waste reduction methods, giving discarded materials a new lease on life and contributing to the collective effort to reduce waste.
